2016 beauty favourites

Hey!

2016 has now ended and 2017 has begun and as I know you all love these type of posts, I thought I would tell you my favourite beauty products of 2016. I have quite a few to talk about so therefore expect a super-lengthy post!

My first favourite is one that I first purchased in May last year and it is the revolution highlighter palette. I absolutely love this palette to death and would never think of buying another high street/drugstore highlighter. It is such great value for what it is. 3 highlighters for £8! With 3 highlighters you have the freedom to change your makeup look often and it makes it more fun and experimental, which is what makeup should be!

Another product that was a favourite of mine last year was the Match Perfection foundation by Rimmel. I got through quite a few bottles of this last year to say the least and is by far my favourite drugstore foundation! Although this foundation is a light coverage it is buildable. I personally think it is best applied with a damp beauty blender if you want a heavier coverage and a dry beauty blender if you want a lighter coverage. It is also great value at only £7.99!

My next favourite is the red must perfume by the Body Shop. This perfume smells absolutely gorgeous and is very reasonably priced for what it smells like. However, the scent is quite strong which is not for everyone. Despite this, it is suitable for all ages, young and old. It's a great scent for a night out!

Now its time for a few high end favourites. The first of them is the cremesheen Pure Zen lipstick by M.A.C. Although it is pricey as it is high end it is very pretty worn and feels absolutely gorgeous. As well as that this lipstick is suitable for day and night, especially for spring.

Urban Decay's Naked Skin Foundation is my next favourite of 2016. This foundation is an extremely light coverage but, unlike the Match Perfection foundation isn't buildable. However, it smells absolutely gorgeous! Personally, I think it looks really good with a real techniques expert face brush.

I have also loved Urban Decay's Naked Flushed palette. Personally, I think this is amazing value for a high end product as it gives you a highlighter, blusher and bronzer for only £23! However, this may be pricey to some for the same reason I mentioned earlier, it's a high end product. This palette gives you a really good contour and looks stunning when worn. The highlighter never fails to look blindingly stunning on to me.

One more high end favourite is the benefit roller lash mascara. This mascara is by favourite one and is totally worth every penny of the £19.50 you have to pay! The roller lash mascara makes my lashes look really long and practically makes my curlers redundant! The best mascara I've ever found and trust me, I've tried a few! Worth every penny!

My final favourite from the high end section is the Weirdo cream lipstick from, yes again, Urban Decay! This lipstick is similar  to Pure Zen in the way that it is perfect for spring. But, it is a lot more pigmented and is more suitable for day time than night time in my own humble opinion. (which is what this blog is all about really!)

Now back to drugstore favourites and one product I have definitely mentioned previously is the Revlon Colourstay eyeshadow palette in moonlit. This palette is neutral yet has a bit of an impact, depending on how much of the product you apply. And I have never seen a eyeshadow palette last so well for so long. It is my go to palette if I'm not sure what colour to wear on my eyes. Definitely worth rave reviews and the money you pay!

Next is something I feel that every girl (or guy) needs in their beauty kit is a beauty blender. I know that there are several of these around on the market and personally, I've been using the egg shaped beauty blender from Superdrug, which is one of the main beauty/drug stores in the UK. I do love the effect this gives with my base makeup, especially with Rimmel's Match Perfection foundation. However, it does take forever to dry after washing, so make sure you will not be needing this for a few days after washing!
